About Hello, A friend of mine showed me a picture he had drawn…

Previous Entry Oct. 9th, 2006 @ 09:08 pm Next Entry
Hello,

A friend of mine showed me a picture he had drawn recently, and I'd love to make his creation see the light of day in knitted form. Are there any knitters that would like to be commissioned to fashion me such an article? is it even possible? And if not, does anyone know where I could go to find gaggles of knitters just desperate to gobble up a new project? It'd need to be done for Christmas, so there's so much time!

I'd be willing to pay for materials, and time spent with needles. Or I could clean your kitchen, and bake you cookies, or any combination thereof. Unicycle lessons, maybe?

Thank you. Oh, thank you.

Hmm. I don't think my knitting skills are up to that challenge, though I suspect a basic pattern could be modified...

Would the teeth be knitted or would you use polar fleece or felt? Cause the basic hat part wouldn't be all that hard to figure out, depending on what kind of stich you wanted

Definantly looks like an interesting project. I dunno if I could master it but I'd be willing to try

Most likepy polar fleece, I think. And the eyes could be silimarly done as well... I have not idea, I'm far too un-knitty to do anything.

An attempt is lovelier than anything! Aren't you the kind soul who offered to knit me an armband (if so, I'm sorry I never got back to you on that in the first place... I checked my mail about a week ago and went 'whoops, how the hell did I miss that! eek!) If you'd like to give it a go, I'd try to be as accomodating as possible.

Ha ya that was me. No worries about forgetting. I ended up moving from Ontario to Victoria during that time so I never got around to it. Whoops heh

Lemme do some research pattern wise and I'll see if its something I could do. I'm not great with patterns, I usually make up my own, but hats aren't too hard and I know there are some great pattern books at the library and amongst my own collection
:D

I was thinking the teeth and eyes could be fleece too - or felt for a less expensive alternative. Cut them out, sew them on. The eye brows could be the same yarn and just embroidered on.

I-cord for the ties with tassles at the end.

If it's regular toque shaped, that wouldn't be too hard. But if it's more of a beret type shape, it might be a bit harder.

I'm not so good with designing my own patterns, so I was just throwing some suggestions out there in case salamanders wanted it. ???

suggestions rock...considering I didn't even notice the eyebrows the first time I looked at it *chuckle*

Ya I'm wondering about the shape too...never tried a berret before hmmm might be beyond my skill level

I don't think any of us actually gave any thought to shape. Touque was what we were all thinking, that's just how he drew it I think...

hee, if you think you'd like to give it a shot, that'd be awesome! However, we're all busy, so if you feel like it just let me know. If not, then I will still bake you cookies for the offer if you like. Hee.

Oops. My last comment got all interspersed with the one I made before. What it meant to say was:

But it does sort of looks like a beret. It was modeled after a ladybug hat I own, which is just touque-y.

If I were to knit this, I would probably use the kittyville hat as a base (w/o the ears obviously) and then use the previously suggested fleece for the eyes and teeth. It would come out super cute I think :)

...hmm I might have the time to knit up the hat for you. I would have to see what the rest of my projects are like. I have socks on the go right now for the triwiz challenge and Uni.

drop me a line at kastrophona(at)hotmail(dot)com, and we can talk if you wish. :)
